1ST YEAR SUBJECTS

Introduces structure, nomenclature, reactions, mechanisms and physicochemical properties of organic compounds relevant to pharmaceutical sciences.

Deals with the pharmaceutical importance, preparation, identification, purity testing and uses of inorganic compounds used in pharmacy.

Provides foundational knowledge in biology or essential mathematical concepts for students requiring additional preparation for pharmaceutical studies.

Introduces general pharmacology, pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics and drugs acting on major body systems, emphasizing mechanisms, uses and adverse effects.

Covers pharmacy services provided to patients and communities, including patient-oriented care, dispensing, counselling, health promotion and rational use of medicines.

Introduces the principles of rational drug therapy and application of pharmacological knowledge to the management of common diseases and disorders.

Provides practical skills in aseptic handling, staining, culture, sterilization, microbial testing and evaluation of antimicrobial agents.

3RD YEAR SUBJECTS

Continues the study of rational drug therapy and therapeutic approaches for major diseases, with emphasis on treatment selection, monitoring and patient care.

Introduces laws, regulations and ethical requirements governing pharmacy profession, manufacture, sale, distribution and control of drugs and related products.

Introduces principles of drug design, structure-activity relationships and chemistry of selected therapeutic classes, linking chemical structure with biological activity.
